Junior Writers Foundation Publishing Agreement
Please
read and sign the following agreement between the school, institution
or other
organization (the School) and Jr. Writers
Foundation, a non profit NY state corporation (the Foundation),
for publishing a paperback book. This is not an agreement between
any student(s) and the Foundation.
The
Program
The Foundation will publish a collection of poems and/or short stories
written by the participating students from the School. The published
book will be professionally designed and printed. The number of pages
will range from 64 to 256 pages depending on the number of participants
in the program. The text of the book will be printed in black on
20# bond paper. The cover will be printed in full color and laminated
on thick (10PT) cover paper. The book will be adhesive bound (paperback)
with a printed spine.
It is not the intention of the Foundation to
edit or alter any child’s
creative writing. The Foundation will design and print the material
provided by the School. All grammar, punctuation etc. will be the
responsibility of the School. The book will be copyrighted in the
name of the school. The School will provide the Foundation with the
stories and/or poems as a single word document prepared in either
MS Word or Word Perfect on either a CD or floppy disc. It is the
School’s responsibility to keep a backup file of any material
submitted to the Foundation. Each participant will be allowed no
more than two pages in the book. These pages may consist of prose,
poetry or illustrations. The final page count may vary and will depend
on the number of participants. The School will also submit to the
Foundation material for the cover. This may be artwork prepared either
as an electronic file or original copy (not to exceed 12” X
18”) along with any copy that needs to be included.
Upon the receipt of this material, the Foundation will prepare the
text and cover for printing. Prior to printing, the School will be
provided a PDF proof for approval. Finished books will be available
within three to four weeks from an approved proof.
The
Cost
The set up fee will be $10 per student with a minimum participation
of 50 students. This fee provides one finished book per participant.
If you choose to purchase additional copies during the first printing,
the price will also be $10.00 per book. All future purchases by the
School will be at 40% off of the retail price. The money must be
paid in full prior to delivery. Delivery is included to one location
via UPS Ground within the continental US.
Financial
Aid
The School may apply for financial aid if funds for the initial cost
are not available. Financial aid will be awarded on a needs basis
and as funds are available to the foundation. Preference will be
given to Title 1 Schools and schools targeted under the No Child
Left Behind Act of 2001.
